As a local elected official and Republican Party officer in Centre County, Daryl Schafer is dedicated to improving Pennsylvania. Here are his views on several of the issues that are most important to people in our region and across the Commonwealth.
Creating Jobs and Opportunities
Creating and maintaining family-sustaining jobs is Daryl Schafer’s top priority. Due to the recession and the misplaced priorities in Harrisburg, more than 500,000 Pennsylvanians are currently unemployed. Like you, he knows that unless dramatic changes are made, Pennsylvanians will continue to struggle.
Daryl believes we improve our economy by reducing the job-crushing taxes and excessive regulations our employers face to protect and create more family-sustaining jobs. In addition, we must make Pennsylvania more economically competitive with our neighboring states to attract new employers, and work with our great colleges and universities to create more local employment opportunities.
Bringing Fiscal Responsibility Back to State Government
Harrisburg must learn to live within its means. For years, while our families, seniors and businesses struggled, big city politicians increased state spending , borrowed billions of dollars they did not have and failed to enact meaningful tax reform.
Daryl Schafer stands for restoring fiscal discipline and fundamentally changing the way state government spends our hard-earned tax dollars. Daryl believes the leadership in Harrisburg must continue on its current path to eliminate the wasteful spending, end the outlandish perks and privileges, and enact a 100% transparency rule so that taxpayers know how every one of their hard-earned dollars is being spent.
Enacting Real Tax Relief
Daryl Schafer understands that our tax dollars belong to us, not to the politicians in Harrisburg. As Chairman of the Haines Township Board of Supervisors, he has annually led the budget process in an effort to NOT raise taxes and NOT increase the financial burden on local families, seniors, and businesses. He will always fight for real tax relief and allowing citizens to keep more of their hard-earned money.
Daryl relies on his proven experience as a small business owner and certified financial expert and believes in immediate and permanent property tax relief and passage of a Taxpayer Bill of Rights that caps the explosive growth in government spending and prevents future tax increases.
Protecting Our Rural Way of Life
Daryl Schafer works hard to protect our Central Pennsylvania values and rural way of life. Daryl worked on local neighbors’ farms from the age of 14 leading to work in the feed industry and his own dairy farming enterprise. Being the former State Executive Secretary of Pennsylvania Future Farmers of America, Daryl has the experience and knowledge to support our agriculture community. He believes we must reduce and streamline regulatory reporting that requires so much of a farmer’s valuable time.
Proud to call rural Pennsylvania home, Daryl Schafer began hunting when he was 12 years old and has fished in our streams, rivers and lakes since he was 8 years old. He understands the importance of passing on our hunting and fishing traditions to future generations and considers sportsmen’s interests to be a top priority.
